Getting Started

New to Cowboy Action Shooting? You don't have to be a member or have everything figured out before coming to see what we're all about. We encourage prospective shooters to come watch a match, meet the Regulators, ask questions, and get a feel for how a match works.

Our members are happy to help new shooters learn about the firearms, equipment, clothing, safety requirements, and rules of the sport. Coming to a match is a great first step before investing in your own gear or joining the club.

sass & club membership

The Rushmore Regulators are affiliated with the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS), the international governing organization for Cowboy Action Shooting. SASS establishes the rules, safety standards, shooting categories, and guidelines used at Cowboy Action Shooting Matches.

Shooters are encouraged to become members of SASS in addition to joining the Rushmore Regulators. SASS membership provides shooters with a unique SASS number and registered alias and allows participation in sanctioned matches and other SASS events.

Rushmore Regulators Membership

Annual Rushmore Regulators membership dues are $40 per individual and $60 per family. Membership is renewed annually.

To become a member, complete the Rushmore Regulators membership application and any required waivers, submit your annual dues, and review the club and range safety requirements. Membership forms and waivers are available below.
